# Set up event fees

Configure event fee types, base prices, dated tiers, and custom prices.

Use event fees to define what teams, players, or non-playing attendees need to pay. Fee setup is shared across team, league, and hat events, but the available fee types differ.

## Open fee management

1. Open the event and select **Control Panel**.
2. Open **Fees & Payments**.
3. Select **Manage** next to **Fee Management**.

## Choose a fee type

| event | Fee type | Applies to |
| -------------- | ------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| team or league | **Team Fee** | The event team |
| team or league | **Player Fee** | players in the event roster |
| team or league | **Non-Player Fee** | Non-playing attendees added by the team manager in the separate application tab |
| Hat | **Player Fee** | The individual hat player applicant |
| Hat | **Non-Player Fee** | The individual non-playing hat applicant |

A team manager may pay the non-player fees after adding those attendees. Non-player fees may use amounts different from player fees and commonly work like event tickets.

Hat events may also use non-player fee for non-playing applicants.

## Set the base price

1. Select the fee type.
2. Enter its base price.
3. Select **Save**.

The base price is used when no dated tier has become active.

## Add a custom price

1. Select **Add Custom Price**.
2. Enter the price name and amount.
3. Add a start date when the price should replace the current active tier from that date.
4. Leave the date empty when the custom price should remain available without a time condition.
5. Select **Save**.

You may name a custom price for the event's purpose, such as an early, late, or special option.

## How Ultie selects a tier

* Online payment uses the tier active at the time of payment.
* When recording an external payment through **Add Transaction**, select any tier manually.
* An undated custom price remains available without replacing the base price on a scheduled date.

Changes to a fee or the event currency apply only to future payment requests.

## Next steps

* [Connect online payments](/organizers-all-event-types/connect-mollie.md) when the event will collect online payments.
* Without an online provider, the organizer may still record cash, bank transfer, cheque, or another external payment in **Fees**.
